The playground and garden provide separate areas for quiet activities and active play; large group as well as individual or small group; and play equipment including sensory equipment and materials. Opportunities for vigorous physical play offer the children a chance to spend time together in ways that are different from what they do in the Play Center or classroom. Outdoor play in the garden and on the playground offers the children the opportunity to build strength and coordination, and stimulates their imagination as the children engage in make believe play or interact with natural materials and the sounds, scents, and textures of the garden and outdoors. The garden and playground do indeed offer the children the opportunity to run, jump, and be loud which is very essential to childhood.
